Professional, knowledgeable and client focused. We provide a bespoke, tailored service to our private clients via our system of block fees. We believe in transparent pricing and we oﬀer block fees so you know how much it will cost to resolve your matter from the outset. If you are in employment we are prepared to act for you on a solely privately funded basis. Unlike other law firms we will not charge you an hourly rate. If you were to be charged at an hourly rate the costs would be significantly higher.

We provide a clear estimate of costs at the outset so you can make an informed decision. Your Home/Car insurance provider may also fund your representation depending on what cover you have available please contact us for details. We are happy to accept payment by instalments/all major credit/debit cards or bank transfer.

In light of the Legal Aid system in Scotland in the 21st century, we now act on a legal aid basis solely for clients who are in receipt of state benefits and are unemployed. How Legal Aid Works in Scotland

Criminal Legal Aid in Scotland is administered by the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB). There are several types: Automatic Legal Aid (ABWOR) applies at first court appearances. Summary criminal Legal Aid covers cases in the Sheriff Court and JP Court. Solemn Legal Aid covers serious cases on indictment.

The police want to interview me; should I attend without a lawyer?

In most cases, yes. Under Scots Law, anyone being interviewed as a suspect at a police station is entitled to free legal advice, regardless of their financial circumstances.

What is the difference between Summary and Solemn procedure?

Summary cases are heard by a Sheriff or Justice of the Peace without a jury. Solemn cases involve more serious charges and are heard before a Sheriff or Judge and a jury of 15 people.

What happens after I am arrested in Scotland?

You may be released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date, or held in custody to appear "from the cells" on the next lawful day. We provide immediate representation for both scenarios.
