Private Funding

Professional, knowledgeable and client focused. We provide a bespoke, tailored service to our clients via our system of block fees. We believe in transparent pricing and we offer block and case stage fees so you are empowered with the knowledge of how your case will be funded in order to achieve the best possible outcome and resolution from the outset. We operate our fee structure on a block fee system and basis this results in signifiant benefits to our clients rather than an hourly rate system that which would result in significantly higher fees.

We provide a clear outline of the funding structure for any case from the outset so our clients can make an informed decision. Our clients recognise that by instructing a Private Criminal Defence and Road Traffic practice the experience is as profoundly positive as it can be the maximum qualitative approach possible is adopted by our lawyers and support team towards the case.

We are driven at all times by achieving the best possible outcome. Due to us being a Private Criminal Defence & Road Traffic Practice, with funding matters resolved directly by the client, or insurance company, we can immediately begin discussions with the Crown seeking to persuade them discontinue the case or where appropriate negotiate the best possible resolution for our client from the outset. Advocates, known as counsel, where appropriate are recommend and instructed, along with expert witnesses such as forensic scientists, psychologist and other doctors.

They are instructed as soon as is relavent without the need to seek approval of any other authorities other than the client. If we believe an Advocate or Expert witnesses is required in our client’s case we will recommend that they are instructed to ensure that at all times the best possible outcome for our client is sought to be secured.

Our clients recognise the inherent benefits that come from funding their representation privately. At all times we seek to achieve the best outcome and results for our clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to our most common questions.

The police want to interview me; should I attend without a lawyer?

No. You should never attend a police interview without legal representation. Even if you believe you have done nothing wrong, anything you say can be used in evidence. Our 24/7 team can attend with you.

Is legal advice at the police station free?

In most cases, yes. Under Scots Law, anyone being interviewed as a suspect at a police station is entitled to free legal advice, regardless of their financial circumstances.

What is the difference between Summary and Solemn procedure?

Summary cases are heard by a Sheriff or Justice of the Peace without a jury. Solemn cases involve more serious charges and are heard before a Sheriff or Judge and a jury of 15 people.

What happens after I am arrested in Scotland?

You may be released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date, or held in custody to appear "from the cells" on the next lawful day. We provide immediate representation for both scenarios.

Can you help with domestic abuse allegations?

Yes. We have extensive experience defending domestic-related charges. We understand the sensitive nature of these cases and the impact of special bail conditions on your family life.

What should I do if I am served with a Summary Complaint?

Contact us immediately. This is a formal court document outlining the charges against you. We will review the evidence (the "disclosure") and advise on your plea and defence strategy.
